Extra Bedroom and Study
In this instance, our client wished to take on more homeworking and preferred to have a study, within easy reach of the front of the house, whilst providing a degree of separation between ‘work and home’.
It was important that any new building works to the front of the property would not spoil the setting of the house. A careful design exercise created a traditionally built 2 storey front extension which accommodates a new ground floor study, cloakroom and utility, with a master bedroom suite at first floor. A contemporary glazed entrance porch and first floor glazed screen brings daylight into the home at both ground and first floor levels.
Grandparents
Our clients live in a detached house with their young family and have been contemplating how to also accommodate their parents, whilst maintaining a balance between extended family living and the need for private space.
The creation of a small self contained flat, within a new extension, linked to the house, provides a private suite for the grandparents. This offers a careful balance of accommodation which enables extended family living with separate space for the quieter moments.
